Boreal Taiga encompasses music influenced from the Northern hemisphere and arctic environments.The sounds are a window to the boreal forests as well as the taiga forests (Russian name) and is also a reflection of arctic regions, snow, ice and water. Boreal Taiga is interested in the exploration of such areas as well as the study of the native cultures that inhabit these beautiful environments.Boreal Taiga music can be ambient, drone, chill out, psy-ethno or down tempo. JimDe is the sole musician and creator of Boreal Taiga which he started in 1999. He utilizes his extensive binaural field recordings library in the music to add the atmospheres just needed for the journey. Bringing electronic sounds together with real life samples, the music becomes a reality.With 10 full length albums released and the 11th, “Siberia” on it’s way summer of 2018, Boreal Taiga has also been asked to write the soundtrack for Richard Sidey’s Elemental film that will include a companion book from National Geographic.
BT Gate X-138
Once a side project of Boreal Taiga, BT Gate X-138 established itself as serious dub techno / dub ambient project. Signed to Tehnofonika Records in 2013, BT Gate X-138 continues with it’s 5th album release in May of 2016, titled “Yelikovo Broadcast”. Sound to drive to,explore and to contemplate.Often described as “deep” dub techno. Influenced by Brutalist architecture in Cold War Russia, the sound is a study of the country’s scenery man made and or natural.
